Promise Made, Promise Kept: Jackson Township Continues to Invest in Public Safety

Giuseppe Palmeri

Councilman, Jackson Township

April 2025

When we ran for Township Council, we made a simple but powerful promise to the people of Jackson: public safety would be our top priority.

It wasn’t a talking point. It wasn’t campaign fluff. It was a commitment — and one we are proud to be delivering on.

At our most recent Council meeting, we proudly swore in two new police officers, reinforcing our ongoing investment in the men and women who put their lives on the line for our community every single day. And we’re not stopping there. This year, the Jackson Township Council plans to hire six additional officers, expanding the force to meet the demands of a growing community and ensure that Jackson remains a safe, welcoming place for all who live, work, and visit here.

Under the strong leadership of Director Candido, our approach has been clear: grow the force responsibly, give our officers the tools and training they need, and keep public safety at the very center of our decision-making.

Jackson Township has seen steady growth over the past several years — families choosing to plant their roots here, new businesses investing in our local economy, and communities thriving. With that growth comes a serious responsibility: to make sure our public safety infrastructure grows alongside it. Adding officers isn’t just about numbers — it’s about making sure that every call for help is answered swiftly, that every neighborhood feels protected, and that every resident knows they can count on the Jackson Police Department when it matters most.

In a time when some towns are pulling back their support for law enforcement, Jackson is doing the opposite. We are standing proudly with our police officers, recognizing that their work is the foundation of a strong, safe, and vibrant community.

Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home, confident in their neighborhood, and secure in their daily life. That’s not just a nice idea — it’s our obligation as elected officials, and it’s a responsibility I take personally.

As I said during the campaign, and I’ll say it again now:

Nothing matters more than the safety of our town, our families, and our future.

We made a promise to the people of Jackson — and today, we’re proud to say:

Promise made. Promise kept.
